Alyssa Howery
Artist Statement
When the pandemic began, I feared isolation and felt vulnerable being alone with myself. I still struggle with the hopelessness of being isolated, but it has opened me up to finding motivation in life around me. I see life in passed down treasures, in plants and the soil they’re buried in, or in the murmurs of your neighbors through the walls. The energy I previously spent planning parties, I now spend running errands solo or making my daily routine feel magical. Feeling passive life around me has helped me appreciate having myself as company, because you’re never truly alone.
