Courtney Glassey
Artist Statement
Courtney Glassey is a local self-taught acrylic artist from Oklahoma. In June 2020 she began commissioning flower mural paintings to local residents. The mural business grew to create art for other businesses such as Country Leisure in Moore, Oklahoma and Fit Factory in Weatherford, Oklahoma. With residents in Oklahoma and Texas being able to enjoy her art. It has since become a full time business ranging from murals to portraits. She has always been intrigued with tiny details in artworks. Her Great Grandmother was a wonderful hobbyist painter who enjoyed creating realistic birds that when Courtney was younger would make her stop to take a moment to enjoy searching around the art. Seeing the tiny work that went into each feather sparked a love for nature in Courtney's own artwork and now able to bring art into people's homes. The minor details are what make art so special and enjoyable. Making tiny things with tiny details into large art pieces that make the viewer stop and appreciate the minor details. My fence murals encompass worlds of color and happiness with outdoor paint and acrylic.
About the artwork: these paintings are thoughtful experiments with muted colors with small pops of color. Reflecting on the mundane everyday life we live. Nature themes run through the paintings as well. Sometimes joyless, but if you look deeper you can find the beauty within. Flowers have been a main focus with her art. When the leaves and flowers die for the winter the acrylic flowers stay. Flowers connect us through space and time, with each death and rebirth cycle.
