Erica Martez
Artist Statement
As a fashion designer and fabric artist, it is important for me to create art that is bold and unconventional. I always challenge myself to create pieces with a fresh and new perspective. I challenge myself to create pieces that I have never seen before. It is important to me to display art that represents me and who I am as an artist. I accomplish this through the use of bold color palettes, mixed media, and repurposed and unconventional materials. When viewing and wearing my pieces, audiences receive a message of strength and courage. I use both art and fashion to speak out concerning political injustice and current events. My overall goal as an artist is to inspire others to pursue their passions and make their fingerprint on the world in whatever genre of art that consumes their passions.
